Karl's Tree Trimming service specializes in commercial and/or residential tree planting. Read on to find out why Karl loves planting trees.
Planting trees is my favorite thing to do.
If you want to add value, appeal and shade to your property in Tucson and the surrounding areas, Karl and his team are the go-to guys. Everyone knows that out here in the Arizona desert, shade comes at an absolute premium.
Tree planting is a great idea because:
- It helps you beat the heat by providing much-needed shade
- Trees provide your property with more privacy
- Trees are naturally appealing
- Trees provide branches for tree houses and tire swings
- Trees are a great way to commemorate a special occasion
- Trees help ecological health
Some trees that do well in the Tucson climate are:
- Desert Willow
- Blue Palo Verde
- Argentine Mesquite
- Chilean Mesquite
- Chaste Tree
- Willow Acacia
If you've never planted a tree before, don't underestimate the amount of effort it takes, especially in Tucson. Out here in the Sonoran Desert we have a little thing called caliche. If you've never heard of it, it's because you've never planted a tree.
The technical definition of caliche is:
A hardened deposit of calcium carbonate that cements together other materials including gravel, clay, silt and sand.
The bottom line is that caliche can cause serious problems when it comes to tree planting, if the tree was not planted by a professional with the experience and equipment necessary to allow the tree to set roots and thrive.
Caliche that is not properly removed can lead to the following issues:
- Caliche can prevent water from draining properly, so the roots may not be able to get necessary oxygen.
- It can lead to a build up of salt, which is not a good thing.
- The tree won't be able to spread roots past the layer, which limits the amount of nutrients, space and water available to the tree.
- The tree won't develop normally
- Caliche beds can also affect the surrounding soil. A soil with a high pH or basic soil is deficient in necessary nutrients.
Caliche can be found in layers that range from a few inches to several feet thick and there can be multiple layers in a single place. Caliche can be removed manually, but only if you have all the time, energy and sunscreen in the world.
It is particularly important to get a professional with extensive experience in tree planting when you want to plant a tree in Tucson. Don't waste time, money and energy by choosing an amateur. Give your new tree the best chance possible at building a healthy foundation and thriving for decades to come, by choosing Karl for your tree planting project.
